Construction News: Updated March 30, 2026
We are blessed to share this news about the new Adoration Chapel that will be a part of the Parish Center Addition:
The Gift of a New Adoration Chapel
Following meetings with the parish’s Pastoral Council, Finance Council and Buildings and Grounds Committee, Fr. Adam Maus, pastor, announces the establishment of a new adoration chapel within the Parish Center addition which is currently under construction at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
“The idea to move the adoration chapel has been divinely inspired,” Father Maus noted. “The more people we talked about it with, the more positive responses we heard. And then a large anonymous donation was given to be used toward it. Jesus wants this.”
Upon completion of the new adoration chapel in the Parish Center addition’s lower level, the current chapel, located off the upper level gathering space, will be designated as a choir practice area. The choir has been practicing within the church, in the dining room, or in a classroom – wherever space was available at rehearsal time. The gift of the new adoration chapel provides a secondary gift of space for those who bring music to our Masses.
Fr. Maus said he also spoke about the new adoration chapel with some of those who regularly attend Eucharistic Adoration. “They thought it was a good idea,” he said. “In the current chapel it can be a little uncomfortable, both temperature wise and with the seating.” The new adoration chapel will have more comfortable seating and kneelers and more space between the chairs, making it easier to focus on individual prayer and building a relationship with Jesus, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament.
The new adoration chapel will be located in the triangle shaped room at the northeast end of the Parish Center addition. The room’s shape is perfect for the placement of the tabernacle at the point of the triangle, where adorers will be able to gaze unobstructed at Jesus exposed in the monstrance.
“We’re in the process of designing the new adoration chapel now,” Fr. Maus said in late January. “We’re going to build a beautiful worship space with good and comfortable furniture and kneelers. We currently have two devotional statues and candle stands and will put those there. The two triangle corners at the sides of the chapel will be the likely place for the statues of Mary and St. Joseph. We plan to elevate the area where Jesus will be so it’s one step higher than the floor, and we’ll be able to kneel at a rail before Jesus.”
The rail will have an area which opens, allowing access to the tabernacle so that Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament may be exposed and reposed for adoration.
An added blessing is that adorers will be able to look through a west window into the Marian grotto area which is being developed outside, between the Parish Center addition and the dining room windows.
Access to the new adoration chapel will be through Door #1 on the east end of the current classroom hallway. This new location for the adoration chapel will allow for better security, Fr. Maus noted. New or improved locks will be added to all entrances off of the classroom hallway, enabling us to close off the current classroom hallway and the hallway leading to the chapel from other areas of the church property. Access to this area after hours will likely be with individually designated key fobs that can be easily and quickly inactivated if lost or if not returned when an adorer moves to another community.
This extra security will also enable us to secure the Faith Formation classroom area, in the event of any need for a lockdown situation.
In the original building plans, it was thought that the triangular shaped room in the Parish Center addition would be used for youth gatherings, meetings and classes. With the large number of students attending our youth group activities this year; however, a larger space for the youth located off of the dining room would be more feasible. As a result, the St. Gianna room, behind the double wooden doors at the end of the dining room, will be designated as the youth room, in addition to being used for the parish library.
